Think About it Thursday!

Mother's Day is just a few days away! Now, I don't mean to be presumptuous here, but I think most of you who are reading this may just be pet owners yourselves and know what it means to take care of us four-legged beings. It's not always a walk in the park, I know.

However, Mother's Day traditionally is only celebrated for those ladies who have delivered two-legged children that run around and pull our tails, try to ride on our backs, put us in funny clothes, give us things we shouldn't eat...and on and on. I am a strong, male dog, so can not even pretend to know what that's like - as a dog or as a human.

But, what I DO know is that I had a four-legged mother that delivered me and I want someone to help her to feel special on this upcoming Mother's Day. And, I now have a two-legged mother that pretty much treats me like her own flesh and blood (I would not want it any other way).

She makes sure I am fed (and with all the proper delicious things, I might add), have clean water to drink, that I am bathed and groomed, brushed, played with/walked several times daily to get all my energy out and get good exercise, and lovingly gives me medication when I am sick. She washes my bed regularly so I stay clean and comfortable, she cleans my ears and puts in ear drops twice a day because I have floppy ears that get infections easily (and, I just happen to love to put them in water whenever I find it), she holds my face in her hands and kisses the top of my head and tells me she loves me, she scratches my back, she massages my front leg when I wake up from a long nap and am limping, she says, "Good Night, Bubba" every night before she falls asleep.

I don't know about you, but I call that a good mother, fur or not.  And although I try to show her my love by licking her face or feet, or sometimes I go all out and hug her leg (I don't think she likes either of those for some reason, though), all I know is that I want someone to honor her on this day for me, because she takes care of me like no one else.

So, if you have a lady in your life that may not have human kids, do not forget her just because she may "only" have fur kids. I guarantee she puts a lot of love, care, time, money and commitment in to them. THINK ABOUT IT!

From me and all my buddies...thanks, moms!!!
